Youth & Infant Care Specialist

Our Mother’s Home is passionate about caring for and educating young mothers (ages 11-21) who are in foster care and their babies. With a deep connection to the women and children we serve, Our Mother’s Home is a powerful PLACE that promotes Partnerships, Leadership, Accountability, Compassion, and Education. Position Summary:

Do you enjoy working with young women and children? Are you able to firmly enforce rules and boundaries, while expressing compassion? As the main point of contact for our young mothers, your role as a Youth and Infant Care Specialist is a meaningful one. Your responsibility would be to provide continuous support and supervision while maintaining a safe and positive environment for the children in Our Mother’s Home’s care. It’s essential that our team members be supportive, loving parental figures and positive role models. Applicants must also be able to remain awake for overnight shifts and work weekends.

Responsibilities & Essential Duties:

  • Support our mission, growth, and intake of young mothers and children
  • Stay current with childcare and education through in-service training
  • Willingness to learn about trauma and healing
  • Ability to maintain the traditional duties of a home; cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc
  • Type and read shift reports
  • Respect the confidentiality of residents, staff, and volunteers
  • Other duties/tasks assigned to shifts and as needed by the home and management

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with teenagers or as a parent or house parent
  • Daytime shifts: Previous childcare experience preferred
  • Nighttime shifts: Nursing background preferred
  • Ability to be patient and compassionate, and to treat all with dignity and respect
  • Work as a team member, with the ability to keep a positive outlook and attitude
  • Certification in Adult and Infant CPR and First Aid is preferred.
  • Must be willing to be certified Advance study in child care or special service work, including Department of Children and Families (DCF)

Requirements:

  • Ability to connect with teenagers, babies, and toddlers and keep a positive outlook
  • Must be able to bend over and lift up to 20lbs
  • Work nights and weekends
  • Possess high school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license and car insurance
  • Complete 40 hours of childcare and development during the first year, 20 hours annually thereafter.
  • Pass FDLE background screening and fingerprinting ($65 fingerprinting fee will be reimbursed after 90 days)
  • Ability to document and read reports with concise language

Schedule, Compensation & Benefits:

  • Three shifts available: 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am
  • Monday through Sunday
  • Shift differential starting at:
    7am – 3pm – $14.00 
    3pm – 11pm – $14.25
    11pm – 7am – $14.50
  • Must be available for some weekends and overnights
  • Part-time and Full-time positions available
  • Healthcare Reimbursement of $200 per month (Full-time employees only)
  • MD Live Telemed Services (24/7 access to doctors via phone and video)
