In addition to the already popular annual events, Our Mother’s Home has several new events and activities planned, including a dance, parties, auctions and a fishing tournament.
“Our annual events will be even more spectacular, and we’ll have some exciting new fundraising events,” said Karen Watson, Executive Director. “We hope the community will continue to support us and help us reach our goal. We want to raise $220,000 as we celebrate 20 years serving the community in 2020. There’s plenty of fun and you get to support an important cause.”
Our Mother’s Home Mentored Living Program has helped more than 300 teen mothers and their babies. The mission of the program is to transition teen mothers and their children from foster care and human trafficking to stable, happy, and productive lives by providing a safe and nurturing home, education, parenting support, along with physical, mental and spiritual care.
The program has a 90% success rate.
Community members will be able to learn more about the program, enjoy light hor d’oeuvres and drinks and take a tour of the home during the 20th Anniversary Celebration Open House from noon to 5 p.m. on Jan. 11 at Our Mother’s Home, 7438 Carrier Rd., Fort Myers, FL 33967.
“We are opening our doors to the community who has provided us so much support over the past 20 years. We invite you to visit our home and see the difference you’ve helped make in so many lives,” Watson said. “We are looking forward to celebrating with you!”
The celebration continues on Jan. 25 with the 20th Anniversary Celebration Dinner and Dance at The Plantation Golf and Country Club. It begins at 5 p.m. with cocktails and a silent auction followed by dinner at 6 p.m. Music and dancing is from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $100 and can be purchased online at ourmothershome.org.
